1. Description of the problem:
sosreport copy the content of /var/lib/maas by default.
When ran on a machine running as a maas cluster controller, putting the
content of /var/lib/maas in the sosreport copy all the fast installer
and regular iso images used to deploy vm. As a result, the archive turns
to be around 3Gb of size.
Uploading such large file on some ticketing system is causing problems.
I had to deal with such a case.
sosreport was ran the without asking for the maas plugin to be run:
melmoth@x220:~/Work/cases/00062547/plop$ grep sos
sosreport/sos_commands/process/ps_auxwww
root 2367 0.0 0.0 37672 1696 pts/3 S+ 22:55 0:00 sudo sosreport
root 2368 20.5 0.0 52940 21672 pts/3 S+ 22:55 0:12 /usr/bin/python
/usr/bin/sosreport
2. Ubuntu release, software version, Release Number and Architecture of
the selected components.
ii sosreport 3.0-1~ubuntu12.04.1 Set of tools to gather troubleshooting
data from a system
3. How reproducible is the problem?
systematic
4. Steps to Reproduce:
4.1. install a maas box
4.2. import images as if you would like to actually use maas
4.3. generate a sosreport with "sudo sosreport"
a. Actual Results:
the sosreport archive contains a copy of /var/lib/maas
b. Expected Results:
the sosreport archive do not containt a copy of /var/lib/maas
5. Known Workaround:
modify the content of the archive manually
6. Business Impact and customer deadlines:
This beahviour is delaying investigation on tickets related to maas
boxes as our ticketing system as a very small limit for the max file
attachement (20Mb roughly).
