I'm quite agree with Justin parker. Using an other app, instead the one by default, is not a solution. Just a workaround
I remember the time when evolution was default email-client and everybody was saying "use thunderbird instead". Or when someone complain about Brasero cause he just don't burn absolutely nothing, people answer "use k3b (and it's tons of dependencies) instead" Anyway... Using wicd ? Why not. BUT this program is quite deprecated now, isn't it ?? Last version in 2012.
