since the update to ubuntu 14.04, I have noticed the following problem with
synaptic:
when e.g. selecting a package to install in the list of packages which also
triggers installation of
other packages in the list, the list display only refreshes (i.e. shows the
selected packages in red)
when I pass over the list entries with the mouse.
I have not noticed this behaviour with any other GUI i.e. it does not seem to
be a general X problem.
