I agree with Jonas above that Canonical/Ubuntu really must stop putting
out sets of packages that are incompatible with each other, especially
in LTS releases, ESPECIALLY when confirmed bugs go unsquashed. It would
be better to not have Likewise in the distribution to begin with rather
than have us waste our time trying to get the package from the repo
working. Far better to just let people go to the BeyondTrust web site,
download pbis-open, and install it manually. Because THAT actually works
as advertised.

This is a significant issue that really should be corrected, especially
for LTS releases such as 12.04. Fixing it in a later non-LTS release
like 12.10 is not a good solution for anyone who uses this in a
corporate environment. People choose LTS for stability, so if it's not
fixed in the original LTS release, we end up having to deal with the
issue for at least 2 years before we even have the option to upgrade to
the next LTS release.

I hope this is at least fixed in 14.04 LTS, but I won't get my hopes up.
Similar bugs in likewise-open shipped with 10.04 LTS, forcing a manual
installation from the Likewise website if you wanted it to actually work
properly. It's been 4 years since 10.04. It's time to either get this
right or remove it from the default repositories.
