Public bug reported:
Used Control-Alt-F1 to run the do-release-upgrade and left overnight. In
the morning it was stuck on a screen asking if I wanted to keep the old
file or replace with the package managers new version. After the
selection it requested the root password or Control-D to continue. Tried
to enter the password and it straight away bought up the message again.
