I can just add that it seems that the problem occurs in Ubuntu 14.04 generally and depends on the type of camera. This goes for Dell Inspiron, Dell Latitude and HP ZBook. My Nikon Coolpix S31 is not mounted although I can find it with lsusb which gives: Bus 003 Device 005: ID 04b0:0341 Nikon Corp. And I can extract images from the camera with Camera.app v. 0.8
On the other hand my Olymus XZ-1 is recognized as before.
