I had a similar problem. In my case appears to be related to phppgadmin package that would not "remove" from Edgy. It was reinstalled and apt seemed happy with the package database.
During upgrade (after 4 hours of downloading!) failed almost right away and asked for bug report with logs. I'm attaching the 3 log files which all show error msgs. Prof. J C Nash (Pres.
