I was not aware that VLC does not use the running file manager somehow to play a file. So how is connection to a SMB share done? >From a user point of view, it very unlogical that the file manager (nautilus in this case) shows file on the share and that it is not possible to play files. I will double check if this happens for all files, maybe it works for some. At the moment of the issue I found that SMplayer was not working either and the default video player was.
