Quite frankly, at this point in time, I have no idea. If you mean which program was I using to perform the upgrade, it would have been either apt-get for a dist upgrade or synaptic for a daily check of "installed upgradeable". If you mean which program that I use had arts as a dependency, I quote "aRts is the core sound system for KDE.", so it was probably amarok. (which now depends on libxine).
