Ok, here's exactly what I did: 1. Reinstalled Ubuntu Gutsy 5 on my second partition. 2. On first boot I immediately ran Update Manager and installed all of the updates. 3. I wasn't asked to, but for good measure I rebooted. 4. Immediately after rebooting I opened the Restricted Drivers Manager. 5. I put a check in "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (latest cards). 6. After it downloaded and installed the package I rebooted as prompted. 7. The xserver failed to load and I was dropped to the CLI. 8. I ran the commands as above and piped them to files on the desktop. 9. I ran "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" and got myself a working xorg.conf 10. Booted up and posted this.
