1) Searching stuff outside ~ is only interesting for the type of people
compiling their own kernel or running a webserver. The average user on
Ubuntu just wants to search his/her own files

2) Searching stuff that way is slow. Really slow.

3) The expert user can easily make tracker index everything he/she has
access to. (System->Preferences->Indexing)

4) The normal system-wide style slow search is still availabel with
deskbar. But a .desktop entry in the accessories menu wouldn't hurt.
