Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ksudoku

When opening a new (2D, order 9) game with difficulty set to 'hardest'
and symmetry to 'none', ksudoku will at times open games whose
difficulty is way below this level. Happens apparently randomly and only
now and then; I would estimate the chance to be 5% or less. The
remainder of the opened games seem to have the correct difficulty level.

A similar bug exists upstream in debian bug #350958; I can confirm the
observations made there regarding the command line output of ksudoku
claiming a certain difficulty level (-1) while only having a number of
remaining numbers that would be appropriate for the easiest levels only:

$ ksudoku 2>&1 | grep ^REM
REMAINING NUMBERS 57 GIVEN 24 DIFFICULTY : -1
REMAINING NUMBERS 57 GIVEN 24 DIFFICULTY : 0
REMAINING NUMBERS 54 GIVEN 27 DIFFICULTY : -1
REMAINING NUMBERS 18 GIVEN 63 DIFFICULTY : -1   => difficulty -1 but few fields
open?
REMAINING NUMBERS 55 GIVEN 26 DIFFICULTY : -1

Kubuntu feisty, ksudoku 0.3-4ubuntu3
