Done. Bad news. It does not fix the problem. The speeds remain slow as
before.

Tagged as 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream' as requested.

Any other thought?

P.S.: I answered my own question regarding the driver: iwlwifi comes in
the upstream kernel:

$dpkg -S $(modinfo iwlwifi | head -1 | awk '{print $2}')
linux-image-3.15.0-031500rc5-generic:
/lib/modules/3.15.0-031500rc5-generic/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi.ko
