It looks like this happens when I boot with a network cable plugged in
and wireless enabled.  My wireless card has an IP address despite the
fact that I never told it to connect and Network Manager doesn't think
it's connected.  I recall hearing something about the wireless driver
auto-associating by default.  Maybe that's what causes it?
