Since I needed to re-install Feisty anyway (because of issues related to
Norton Partition Magic and gparted), I thought of giving Gutsy a try and
maybe helping by submitting but reports and all that.

I really don't care that much about nvidia not working properly (and
other issues related to synaptic and the alsamixer); I know Gutsy is in
alpha status and I don't expect support.  The reason I'm back to Feisty
is because the Intel compilers (for c++ and Fortran) perform some kind
of sniffing in the OS and refuse to install even if all the dependencies
are satisfied (through sym links, downgrading, etc.)... And those are
the only two packages/programs I need to get my work done.
