Hi, I have the same laptop and had the same problem , the fans were not working. lm -sensors indicated that the temperature reached 70 ° C. I had already installed the package acpi, who used to monitor temperature in my old laptop, and when I install version 14.04 on my L845, I did also to monitor temperature because I give an intensive use. But when running the command acpi-t did not get any results, and run acpi-V the result was as follows:
Luzbelito @ luzbola : ~ $ acpi- V Adapter 0 : on- line Cooling 0 : pkg -temp- 0 no state information available Cooling 1: intel_powerclamp no state information available Cooling 2: LCD 0 of 100 Cooling 3: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 4: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 5 : Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 6: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 7: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 8: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 9: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 10: Processor 0 of 10 As the temperature did not go down , I install the package thermald . The configuration file thermald was unchanged , so fans should start at 50 ° C , which was not the case and the temperature was still high . Then I uninstall the package acpi and everything started to work properly . When the temperature reaches 50 ° C the fans start to run and when that temperature drops stop. Perform testing to reinstall the acpi package and the problem appears again, to uninstall everything starts working again. Hope this helps.
