had the same problem dist-upgrading to debian wheezy from squeeze the faxsetup script looks for the configuration file /etc/hylafax/config, while I had /etc/hylafax/config.ttyS0 adding a symlink from config.ttyS0 to config solved the issue. as far as i recall i have always used official packages only.
