I tried doing that but even though pulseaudio set this cards profile to off it did not recover. Even a reboot after using pavucontrol did not work. According to my saviour at university pulse recognizes the switching from one sound card to the other but it can't handle the switch internally.
So pavucontrol could not solve my problem.
