collectd 3.11.6, released today, includes a fix for a segfault in the processes plugin. It might be that this is the same problem.
Other than that I have to admit that I couldn't make much use of the core file. Can you install the debug package and create an annotated backtrace? Since I'm not on Ubuntu myself it's likely that I'm simply missing the library this problem appeared in, though the backtrace looks more like a problem with a signal handler or a disastrous buffer overflow.
