Font issue solved for me: * sudo apt-get install xfonts-100dpi * restart X session (log out and back in, for example)
Perhaps some xfonts package should be added as a dependency, or at least to Recommends:? I did not investigate whether/why fonts-liberation could suffice. re: context menus in dotty: they are sensitive to the state of num-lock for some reason. If they don't work, toggle num-lock and try again.
