I can confirm this. I run Ubuntu Gutsy Tribe 5. After installing
mozilla-plugin-vlc a "about:plugins" inside Firefox is still missung the
mozilla-vlc plugin
# dpkg -l mozilla-plugin-vlc
ii mozilla-plugin 0.8.6.release. multimedia plugin for web browsers based on
# dpkg -l firefox*
ii firefox 2.0.0.6+2-0ubu lightweight web browser based on Mozilla
ii firefox-gnome- 2.0.0.6+2-0ubu Support for Gnome in Mozilla Firefox
