This happened after upgrading kernel and initramfs. I hope nvidia will issue
driver for trusty release soon . They did for precise and raring ubuntu

nvidia-331 and nvidia-331-updates are probably the same drivers from nvidia
developer site but I would try their native installer. Than there would be
probably another error messages :)
Alternative Nouveau for nvidia cards worked fine. But a lot of features,
for example GPU computing or 3D games in wine emulator works only with
this original buggy driver.
