Me too.

Chinese characters are not displayed properly, everywhere except the
window title and page contents.

Tab titles and tooltips, omnibox, html [title] tooltips, and even
customized menu items of a flash player.

I noticed that, My home copy of Chromium Browser (34.xxx Ubuntu 14.04)
corrupted after some software updates,
and I found there were updates for fontconfig, 4 -> 4.1 (some TeX font issue
fixes?).

I'm suffering from this for a couple of weeks, that is why I did not
accept any updates when at work (chromium 34.xx, trusty).

But early today, I forgot that, and confirmed a bunch of updates
(including fontconfig), and now, I'm here.

Firefox works as it normally does.

I tried the latest Google Chrome, and confirmed the same issue.
