When I play back audio, I get only sound from headphones, not from the built-in
speakers. I'm sure that speakers aren't muted; see the attached screenshot of
my desktop's audio output control panel (its meter shows activity, so audio
playback seems to pass).
Also, I have been able to get sound with LUbuntu 14.04 (I'm on XUbuntu but I
had the same problem with the Ubuntu Live DVD).
