Public bug reported: Info
Ubuntu 14.04 Asus K95VJ Hybrid graphics (Intel and Nvidia GT 635M) Recommended 331.38 drivers I've been experiencing video tearing everywhere in Ubuntu 14.04, whether it be just while moving windows or watching videos. The system is up to date and I use the recommended Nvidia 331.38 drivers installed via Additional Drivers. I tried every fix out there I could find, but none worked - the screen tearing is still all over the place. However, when switching to Intel (with PRIME option in Nvidia settings), the tearing is no longer there. Unfortunately I cannot use only Intel graphics as I do "graphically heavy" tasks. I have also noticed that Nvidia settings does not remember me setting screen resolution to 1920x1080, but rather resets it to 960x540 each time I reboot the notebook (though visually, the screen remains at 1920x1080, but when moving cursor to the right edge of the screen, it acts as there is more screen space to the monitor, and "leaves" the screen completely). Also, each time I have to re-set the resolution to the proper one, it asks me to Auto Fix or Ignore some monitor settings. One more thing I noticed in Compiz settings is that it resets Refresh Rate to 50 on each reboot, even though I set it to 60. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1338224 Title: screen tearing on nvidia hybrid graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1338224/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
