Public bug reported:

After upgrading from dapper to eft (using apt-get), the kernel does not load
any more. First, there goes kernel oops. Then, /sbin/modprobe abnormal exit.
Then, it cannot find root filesystem (on SATA drive):
ALERT! /dev/sda3 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

Then, it tries to start busybox and hangs forever (even CapsLock does
not work).

If you need any more debugging info - I can provide (sorry, cannot do
screenshot:)

This is really critical bug for me - the system is effectively dead.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux-
image'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Untriaged
