OK, learning by doing. Just broke my system (only black blank screen, no
login possible). Removing all the drivers was not a good idea. I had to
go to recovery mode, and install the graphics stack for the LTS-Trusty:

sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-trusty xserver-xorg-lts-trusty
libglapi-mesa-lts-trusty

Now, I am back! :-)

However, I saw that apt-get removed Google-Earth (why?), and during the
installations of the kernal packages I noticed an error message from
VirtualBox. I haven't tested it yet, but I assume that VirtualBox is
broken after moving to the Trusty kernal for 12.04. This also happend
when the first HWE stack was introduced.

Advice: anyone depending on Vbox should postone the uptrade to Trusty-
LTS HWE.
