@Sean Davis I guess I've missed to comment on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-power-manager/+bug/1326740 I followed the instructions before and so far, the problem is not fixed at all.
I've also tried to reinstall Xubuntu on this laptop (Thinkpad Edge 13 AMD), but I still have the black screen issue.
