Similar problem occured after kernel upgrade to 3.13.0-32 on Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS. Problem cured by uninstalling VirtualBox 4.2 and installing VB 4.3 (both obtained from <a href="https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads";>the Oracle VB website</a>.
