** Changed in: ubuntu-ux
Assignee: Matthew Paul Thomas (mpt) => John Lea (johnlea)
** Description changed:
The heated discussions regarding the online search capabilities in the
Dash have led to the possibility to disable that in through
systemsettings which many people use.
On Touch, this introduces the problem that a user cannot browse/install
any new apps any more. I think there is the need to have a dedicated
application for the app store which allows to find and install new apps
without having to enable full Dash online search capabilities.
+
+ -----------------------------------------
+ Desired resolution:
+
+ - In the new Unity8 Dash architecture, there is no longer a global
+ search, users choose which lens they would like to search before
+ performing a search. This means the issue privacy issue from Unity7 is
+ no longer present, therefore this setting can be removed from System
+ Settings.
