Spyder has become a significant piece of software in the scientific
community, providing an IDE with a familiar, MATLAB-like, interface.
Amongst the improvements in the recent 2.3 release, support for Python 3
is a significant milestone. I believe this alone makes the release worth
backporting, since most scientific workstation running Linux use LTS
releases these days.
