I think you missed this part:

If you expect bug victims -pardon- users to install bios updates in
order to help you fix bugs, you should provide an easier way to install
them.
Also, unless you have a strong reason to think that the issue is
*caused* (*caused*, not just triggered) by a bug in the bios that has
been fixed in the update (which I doubt), then testing it against the
bios update should not be a requirement to investigate and fix the issue
in Ubuntu.
