Most likely, its just anecdotal, but when driver hand-off is disabled Ubuntu install proceeds without stalling. Boot-up functions more smoothly. Don't know why this is. According to BIOS remarks on the EHCI hand-off, it(BIOS) should detect whether or not BIOS driver hand-off is necessary or not when enabled. Since Windows doesn't care either way, neither do I.
