@Morten: it's the same problem (caused by the BIOS) but, if you're using nouveau, a separate bug report (such as the one you filed) is more appropriate.
@sgon00: case 1 is really LP: #1349121, case 2 (as Lévai pointed out) is really LP: #1262068, and it has only been fixed in Ubuntu 14.10. @pewe: you're using the nouveau driver, so LP: #1349121 is the bug report you should keep an eye on.
