So apparently this is another GTK thing. PcManFM still uses GTK, but it looks great. Its buttons only change color when the mouse hovers over them. I checked out two applications that I know use QT (rather than GTK), and they look better. So when we switch to QT, things will be better with customized colors. It is something to look forward to.
