Public bug reported:

When a window is maximized, there appears a 1-pixel column of white
pixels on the very left edge of the screen. These go away if the
maximized application draws over them, but reappear if the window is
unmaximized and maximized again, or if focus is switched to another
window and then back.

System information:
Ubuntu 14.04
LightDM 1.10.1-0ubuntu1
Gnome Flashback (Metacity) 1:3.8.0-1ubuntu12.1
Lenovo Thinkpad T410

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
