Just in case someone experience the same issue than me (or probably same than Dave earlier too), i.e. the touchpad is recognized by the new kernel, but then stops working again... I installed 3.16-1 and the problem persisted. However, I just realized that I still had some psmouse dkms module installed from a previous try at fixing the issue.
I just ran: <quote> sudo dkms remove -m psmouse -v elantech-x551c --all sudo rmmod psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse</quote> And the scrolling is miraculously back! Let's just hope it persists after reboot.
