So your answer to a bug that's been confirmed, and after nine years
still expresses itself as SIGSEGV, is basically, "go fix it yourself"?

Sometimes I'm really ashamed of my peers in the trade. And no, I won't
wade through Thunderbird sources, because I've got other projects. I am
a Thunderbird *user*, not a *maintainer*, so...

...go fix it yourself.
