Sure, i refer my Bank Card PIN as PIN too.

But on my phone, my PIN has always been my SIM PIN, maybe it's different
for you guys since you've never had PINs on your SIMs in the USA (or so
I've been told), but here 100% of people do. Of course i don't have any
field data different that me and my group of friends so i may be wrong.

The other problem with mixing device PIN and SIM PIN is that is easy
that people will end end up locking of their phone (people know their
PIN, not their PUK)
