Update: The problem happens again, regularly.
- The symptoms disappeared after Apr 9, after updating from
linux-image-3.11.0-19-generic to linux-image-3.11.0-20-generic (still Ubuntu
13.10).
- then, I had more than 4 months without problems
- Now, on Aug 27 it happened the first time again, now with kernel version
linux-image-3.13.0-35-generic and Ubuntu 14.04.
I was able to reproduce this summary using the log files
/var/log/dpkg.log* and the log of an auto-reboot script which I wrote to
automatically reboot my machine if it isn't able to run videos:
