This appears to be dependent upon the "vesa" xorg driver in Feisty,
(whereas the "vesa" driver in Edgy worked flawlessly).

The solution I've found is to install: xorg-driver-fglrx

...Then simply change the driver to "fglrx", restart gdm, and the Feisty
Live CD continues as it should.

So... while fglrx appears to be a part of the "unsupported drivers" in
Feisty, it seems its xorg driver is not, at least where my Gateway
system is concerned... so the xorg.conf autodetect script is defaulting
to the new(?) vesa driver that doesn't play well with that system?

Hope this extra bit of info helps!
Timothy
