I have this too. I am using kubuntu feisty with KDE. But I am not using focus follows pointer, and there is another twist. This has just happened, and keeps happening 3-5 secs after plugging in my usb-wireless mouse. Disconnecting the mouse has my touchpad working normally, after plugging in the mouse both mouse and touchpad start exhibiting the behaviour described above. Restarting everything makes no difference.
