Mainline kernel install did not fix the problem.  Perhaps it made it
worse.

please excuse errors...my first time attempting this reporting.

recover from suspend resulted in no graphics interface at all.  A long
list of information (several pages) flew by, Froze after "end of trace"
I believe.

after hard reset "System program problem detected"; then "Sorry, Ubuntu
14.04 has experienced an internal error." Noted that there was an
upstream kernel installed and advised that I report the bug through
kernel bug tracker.  I have not done so.
