The /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0 Digital Temperature Sensor data appears to be from the asus_atk0110 driver which in turn is getting the data from ACPI controls, so this limit seems to be hard-coded into your machine's firmware. As it stands, for a AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor the 125W version of the CPU runs rather cool:
* Maximum operating temperature: 55°C - 62°C * From what I gather from various sources, the Idle temperature should be around 33°C-34°C If you can supply more information about the machine, I will try and found out the exact idle temperature. So as it stands, thermald is kicking in passive CPU cooling because it believes the processor is too hot (from what the BIOS is telling it). @Srinivas, what is the best way to handle this kind of issue? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1367131 Title: thermald throttles cpu to minimal frequency at 45° To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thermald/+bug/1367131/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
