Basically, google changed the way http requests are handled. There is a patch available for 3.10, which should work for ubuntu 14.04, here: https://bug735311.bugzilla- attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=284624 Debian has already patched this bug (in Jessie, version 3.12).
