Due to some unfortunate versioning, the package libopenblas-base version
0.2.8-6ubuntu1 is used in trusty (version 14.04).
However the official libopenblas bug containing the forked process hang, which
I believe is what causes this, was not fixed until version 0.2.9. The
version history is here:

Some of the details of the history of this bug can be found here:

https://github.com/xianyi/OpenBLAS/issues/294

Isn't trusty a long term support release? I would request a simple
upgrade to openblas v 0.2.11 perhaps to eliminate this bug (and a few
other bugs actually). OpenBlas is a critical library for anyone doing
scientific programming or numerical analysis.
