If virtualbox-source needs to be installed too, the virtualbox package
should depend on it rather than recommend it like now. And there should
be a better error message for this.
If you install the package from the virtualbox website,
compilation/installation of the module is done automatically during
installation. Could this also be done for the ubuntu package?
