Public bug reported:
Client: Ubuntu (current) running 2.6.20-16-generic kernel. Server: Mac
Mini running OSX 10.4.10. Comparison client: XP Pro SP2.
Ubuntu client connects to Mini using
sudo mount -t cifs -o username=x,password=x //mini/share /media/mini
Result shown by mount is
//mini/share on /media/mini type cifs (rw,mand)
There is a symbolic link in the shared directory:
$ ls -l
...
lrwxr-xr-x 1 503 503 15 2007-08-01 15:45 Maxtor -> /Volumes/Maxtor
But I cannot CD to the linked directory, nor view or modify its contents, even
using sudo.
/media/mini$ ls -l Maxtor #Note: should list contents of Maxtor dir
lrwxr-xr-x 1 503 503 15 2007-08-01 15:45 Maxtor -> /Volumes/Maxtor
/media/mini$ cd Maxtor
-bash: cd: Maxtor: No such file or directory
For comparison, the XP Pro client logging in with the same un/pw has no
problem using the link.
