Seems like it is similar to bug 54654 - although he is running a dual monitor setup with twinview so I can't be certain. However from the way he has described it is likely that it is the same bug. If it is, then go ahead and mark this as a duplicate but perhaps add a note to his bug stating that it does not only occur when using twinview, but for normal single-monitor setups as well.
