Public bug reported:
Hello,
In ubuntu 14.04 php5-memcached depends on php-pear
php-pear depends on php-cli.
This means that php5-memcached will trigger installation od php-cli.
This is unneeded for many systems, also this was not the case in Ubuntu 12.04
LTS where php5-memcached did not depend on php-pear.
Ubuntu: 14.04.1 LTS
Package versions:
php5-memcached 2.1.0-6build1
php-pear 5.5.9+dfsg-1ubuntu4.4
dpkg -s php5-memcached | grep Depends
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.14), libmemcached10, zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4), php5-common (>=
5.2.0), php5-common (<< 6.0.0), php-pear (>= 1.4.0~b1), phpapi-20121212, ucf
dpkg -s php-pear | grep Depends
Depends: php5-common (>= 5.5.9+dfsg-1ubuntu4.4), php5-cli
Can this dependency be removed please?
We need to use php5-memcached with php5-fpm we don't need php5-cli, it should
not be required.
** Affects: php-memcached (Ubuntu)
